Intertextuality 3

Katy Perry "Last Friday Night" video includes intertextual references with there being credits in the start and at the end of the video and out takes, creating a film like effect
This is showing the way the music video is creating a film like effect as Katy Perry is just waking up and reliving all the things she went through last night hence the name of the song is "Last Night" the clothes she is wearing is very colourful and even the surrondings she is currently in and even the party the host is dressed in a colourful outfit and so is the party.
The 80s were always known to be a colourful period as this below is an original dress from the 80s and this is where artist Katy Perry was inspired to add it into her music video

This is taken from the Music video of Robbie Williams "You Know Me" this is showing him wearing a rabbits head and dancing around he has got this idea from the scene below in the Disney Movie Alice in Wonderland
Image result for alice in wonderland rabbit
This is just showing where Robbie Williams might have gotten this idea to dress up as a rabbit with a stick and a brown coat all from the film Alice In Wonderland, This has been used because this will appeal to a larger scale audience as Robbie Williams videos are tended to be watched by older females.
This will also appeal to the younger girls and younger women making him get more views from a vast range of audience

Kay Costume

+

This outfit was inspired by Afrobeats pop artist Wizkid as he wore this in one of he`s famous video "Ojuelegba" and i like this style of costume because it is plain but very stylish and a lot of famous brands are included in the dress code also we chose this clothing because it will apply to our audience, very easy to get and it goes against the pop conventions codes

ChainsmokersVEVO

Re:      Brentwood County High Media Coursework

Dear Sir

We are putting together a music video for our A2 Coursework, Brentwood County High

We understand that you are the owner of the copyright in the musical composition Closer – Chainsmokers and want to include the song in the yearbook.  We want to use the entire song in our production as me and my partner like the song a lot and we would like to express our interest in it by making a music video for it as we know all of the words it would be great if we would use it for our final year 13 piece
Since we are on a limited budget and distribution of the department will be only to students and the administration of our school, we are hoping that you will allow us this use without any charge.  If this is not possible, please let us know what fee would be required for this use.

Your signature below, under “confirmed by,” will indicate that you will agree to permit this use without payment of a fee.  Please let us know if you have any questions concerning this license.  Also would you please let us know as soon as possible if this song cannot be licensed so that artistic changes may be made in the songs to be included in the production.  You can reach us in care of 0Miss Mayhew, [Brentwood County High, CM14 4JF, Seven Arches Road, 02085969623, Mayhew@bchs.essex.sch.uk
Thank you for your help with this matter and we look forward to hearing from you.

Very truly yours,

Kelvin Obaze

Lip Syncing Practice, today we practiced on our lip syncing practice, with the Closer lyrics playing in the background making it easier when it comes to our shoot in London and In the forest in Brentwood we will know what we are saying and it helps with getting our timing with the song because timing is everything when it comes to lip syncing timing is everything if you fail to perfect the timing it will not work due to the fact that it will look like there is a problem with filming and it will make our music video look very bad

Reflection On The First Day Of Filming.

When we first went filming it was quite a big struggle as i did not go with my partner so i really did not know what the structure of our music video was going to be on and what parts she was filming and what parts she was not going to film till we meet up to go and film, we started of the day by taking a few pictures trying to get a cover for the music video production and to get a poster however that was not going great as the sun just kept interrupting with the main artists face so we decided to just start recording the opening scene with me and my friends walking down the hill, the first mistake we made was that we were filming with the phone portrait instead of landscape and we shot quite a few good scenes with it however it was just that in was portrait which is why when you see on our finished product the scene that was filmed with my friends had white all over the edges, but every mistake has a reason for it, this then meant the next time i went out to film i would know exactly what to do and what not to do as well.

Production DIary 3

Today I went up to London Embankment to go start our filming and location shots, this was the first time i went up to Embankment and it was during the Christmas season so they were a lot of lights so the scene was properly set, however i could not film that day due to how it would contrast our music video so i could only record the location shots which we included in our final production

C Biz- Money March

Location - There are two location this music video seems to be set in and that is an empty studio and another one in a expensive hotel, the empty studio seems to be all white and this is used to put emphasis on the designer clothes they are wearing, especially how most of them are wearing colourful clothing.

They are even highlighting the types of shoes they are wearing and how they are showing off because it is expensive.

Representation- There are 2 representations in the music video one for gender and another for ethnicity, the first one we see in the video is a bit of gender representation how women are portrayed in music video as the Star IMAGE is throwing money on her backside, also in the picture below you can see one of the men in the video wearing a ski mask which is just proving the stereotype of black people being robbers.

Monday 7 November 2016

Star Image

Name - Jordy Murphy
Age - 19
Height - 6ft 3

Production Diary 3

In this week we looked at the video itself and we decided to make our star image a male and with a tall frame and someone quite young so he would appeal to our target audience age group and be easy for him to lip sync the lyrics to the female star image, and that is where the lip sync training began to happen with me and my partner and teacher, trying to help me understand the timing because timing seems to be the key element when lip syncing because any little slip ups it will be very noticeable and might ruin the whole music video

Production Diary 2

After we have discussed as a group and decided the type of video we will be doing, we both went to scout the location that we will be shooting our music video at, i chose the forest as it is a secluded location and it shows the distance from me and my partner and also i will film somewhere busy to show the contrast and how it has to match the lyrics also because if it does not the music video will not make sense whatsoever so this week we did a bit of location scouting

Thursday 3 November 2016

Production Diary

During the first week i was given the Music video syllabus by media teacher so we had to do a bit of research on Pop and how to make a productive music video so using this as a form of inspiration to do our own so we talked about what we wanted to do and how we picked our artist and made he`s profile then started talking about days we could go out and start filming and which location would suit the type of music video we wanted.

The Pitch

First Shot is with me and friends up in a Forest In Harold Hill, walking and Laughing then there is  another shot of me and my friends in the same location but walking normally and then I am in the house doing the lip syncing while drinking a bottle of vodka then me and georgia go up Brentwood that is when i get her number and we start talking and it is just showing how we fell in love immediately then we go back and walk back together

Lyric Analysis

Lyrics
Hey, I was doing just fine before I met you
I drink too much and that's an issue but I'm okay
Hey, you tell your friends it was nice to meet them
But I hope I never see them again

I know it breaks your heart
Moved to the city in a broke down car
And four years, no calls
Now you're looking pretty in a hotel bar
And I can't stop
No, I can't stop

So baby pull me closer in the backseat of your Rover
That I know you can't afford
Bite that tattoo on your shoulder
Pull the sheets right off the corner
Of the mattress that you stole
From your roommate back in Boulder
We ain't ever getting older

We ain't ever getting older
We ain't ever getting older

You look as good as the day I met you
I forget just why I left you, I was insane
Stay and play that Blink-182 song
That we beat to death in Tuscon, okay

I know it breaks your heart
Moved to the city in a broke down car
And four years, no call
Now I'm looking pretty in a hotel bar
And I can't stop
No, I can't stop

So baby pull me closer in the backseat of your Rover
That I know you can't afford
Bite that tattoo on your shoulder
Pull the sheets right off the corner
Of the mattress that you stole
From your roommate back in Boulder
We ain't ever getting older

We ain't ever getting older
We ain't ever getting older

So baby pull me closer in the backseat of your Rover
That I know you can't afford
Bite that tattoo on your shoulder
Pull the sheets right off the corner
Of the mattress that you stole
From your roommate back in Boulder
We ain't ever getting older
We ain't ever getting older (we ain't ever getting older)
We ain't ever getting older (we ain't ever getting older)
We ain't ever getting older (we ain't ever getting older)
We ain't ever getting older

We ain't ever getting older
No we ain't ever getting older

Yxng Bane - WMD Textual Analysis

Setting- This video was taken in Custom House, East London, you can tell this by the block of flats behind the main artist, plus in the music videos they include the street which was called "Three Mason Road" they do this because they can let their Rival Gangs know where they are from and for them not to come round their area.
There is controversy in the video as the main artist is in a 2016 Mercedes Benz while in the background is the block of flats where mostly Working Class people live so he is showing he is bringing fame to where he started

Representation
In this video there are no female representations however there is a gender and ethnic representation, in the ethnic part of the video most of the males in the video were black male and this is is following the stereotype of how most gang members are mostly black males and in that representation most of them were dressed as gang members all except the artist who is dressed with a lot of designer clothes such as, Balenciaga, Balmain and also a very expensive Wolf Fur Coat, this is showing how males mostly blacks like to show off.
WMD Yxng Bane

Lighting and Editing
A lot of lowkey lighting was used in this Music video due to the fact that they want the viewers to see how dark is life sometimes and however you can see when the big cars are in the video or he is in designer the lighting becomes higher to show how life has gone up from him and the scenes move quicker between each other making them putting in a lot of scenes

Gender Reversal (Male Gaze)

The Male Gaze- The Male Gaze is a term from Gaze Theory that describes the tendencies of works to assume straight male point of view even when they do not have a specific narrative point of view and in particular the tendency of works to present female characters as subjects of implicit male visual appreciation.
Examples; Beyonce- If I Were A Boy
Jessie J - Do It Like A Dude
In This you can see Beyonce wearing a Police uniform which is

What Is Narrative

Narrative is the media term for story telling, Narrative is the way the different elements in a story are organised to make a meaningful story. some of these elements can be facts as in a documentary or characters and action as in a drama.
When we look at Narrative we see that stories throughout the media share certain characteristics. This is often linked to genre, different media tell stories in a lot of different ways, Narrative is informed by character, action and location
The characters have functions such as heroes or villains,or as someone who assists the hero or villains as a helper or messenger
The actions determines how the events in the narrative occur and the influence they have.
The location of the film or television programme is an important ingredient in how the story unfolds. A horror film about Dracula MUST have a castle

Timeline Of Music Videos

1970s- In the UK the importance of Tops of the Pops to promote a single created an environment of innovation and competition amongst band bands and record label as the shows producers placed strict limits on the number of videos it would use, therefore a good video would increase a songs sales

1975s- Classical Rhapsody was the first ever music video by the rock band Queen written by Bruce Gower, it was segmented in three different parts, a solo, Ballard and hard rock section. It was the most expensive piece of arts at its time and has the most elaborate music recording in the history of music.

1980-90- Michael Jackson and Madonna introduced the technique of performance based music videos, their videos were often choreographed  and coordinated.

2002-2007- In 2002 Avil made her debut with her album "Lets Go" which earned her a title of best pop punk artist and she earned the reputation of stater punk persona, whereas Rihanna "Umbrella" which featured rap by Jay Z. The song earned them a Grammy award for best Rap.

2010-2011- The song "Love the way you lie" is a mid tempo romantic ballad by Eminem with Eminem rapping the verse while the chorus is done by Rihanna

Todorov Theory

Todorovs narrative theory basically states that most stories or plot lines follow the same pattern or path

1. Equilibrium.
The first part of the story will display a happy start, where the majority of characters are content and everything is as it should be. So in the Simpsons Movie, in the first part, everything is normal and Homer is doing chores.

2. A Disruption
The second part of the story will feature a problem or some thing will disrupt the happiness. In the Simpsons, it begins when Homer saves the Pig

3. Realisation
This part of the plot is when everyone realises the problem and it is chaos. So, the Simpsons are kicked out of Springfield and forced to move to Alaska.

4. Restored Order
This part of the plot is when the characters attempt to repair the damage and restore the problem, so the Simpsons go back and save Springfield.

5. Equilibrium..
This is the final part of the plot where the problem is resolved and normality can resume again, so the dome is blown up and everyone is free

Codes And Conventions

The Purpose Of Music Video.
Promotes a single or usually an album people will be find interest in, promotes the artist or the band, it creates, adapts or feeds into a star image the main thing for me is that a music video is to audience the audience, sets the meaning of a song by the use of images.

Music Video Representation Girls

In the picture above you can see how far the difference in fashion and how women have changed their dress sense in the Music videos and this is because of the fact the way Lady Gaga is dressed seems to attracts more viewers and it attracts both men and women as men are attracted by her nudeness while some young girls and mid 20s women might see her as a role model because she dresses different and because she stands out so people will want to follow her footsteps.
Another representation is how girls are dressed in male artist videos, this attracts a lot of viewers as they like to see the sexual side of the music videos making them come back to watch it again and you can see how some girls really do not care about if they are dressed half naked in the 90s they would try to hide their face and if they do show their face it would cost the artist a lot more because of the embarrassment and morale they might go through but now they do not care they will do it for cheaper as long as they are on a famous persons music video their popularity will increase

Performance Based Music Video

Performance based music video features the band/artist performing either to the camera or an audience, this is a popular technique rock bands use as there concerts are usually high energy and there is more interest for a viewer to watch the band perform as a whole rather than an artist on their own.
30 Seconds To Mars- Closer To The Edge, is a good example of this the video footage of the band playing different venues of their tour cut together to make one big music video

Monday 3 October 2016

Concept Music Videos

Concept music videos usually have no story line and have no relation with the lyrical content of the song. The video usually has no concept, no plot to follow. It is interpretative and could have no Polysomic ending therefore leaving up to the audience to decide. It is usually the most remembered by the audience due to its uniqueness and creativity. Concept music videos are often symbolic, there is often lots of symbols to build up a meaning, lots of montage of clips and images, lighten is often used to suggest a mood, pace to represent emotions meaning, pictures often support and contradict lyrical meanings.
However the biggest disadvantages of such music videos could be that sometimes as being too random  they could not simply be understood by the audience moreover by not featuring the artist in it, however the artist would not able to promote he`s identity.
Take Care By Rihanna is a very good example of this in the music video you can see a dancer, a fish, and a bird flying, a bull dodging arrows, trees on fire and Drakes body disintegrating

G Easy Order More

Setting- This music video was set in foreign country as you can see the trees and the waterfall however it contradicts because he has an american accent, the video sets the song already as it is in a calm place and you can hear the breeze of the trees already before the beat and melody kicks in, you can also see favelas in the background on the opening of the music video so the audience will know this is a foreign country.

Representation- The video is trying to display activities that go on in a night club but they are not in a night club, activities such as smoking weed, drinking expensive drinks and getting half naked girls to come and give the guests their drink.

Types Of Music Videos

Narrative Music Videos- Narratives videos are when there is a story playing i`m the music video. Within the narrative genre of music videos there are three types of narratives:

Illustration- this is where the narrative in the music video very closely reflects the lyrical content of the song for example "Love Story" by Taylor Swift

Amplification- The narrative might be slightly influenced by the lyrical content however it uses different themes to compliment the songs true feelings, Fr example "Don`t Kill The Feeling" by Magic

Disjuncture- this where the narrative holds very little relationship to the song and it is quite arbitrary meaning random "Someone That I Used To Know" by Gotya

What To Consider While Making A Music Video

Visual Styles
Camera Work
Mise En Scene
Editing

Equipment List

Digital Video Cameras
This is for when me and my group are going to record our music videos it will most likely be a iPhone 6 simply because of the quality.
Camcorder and Spare Batteries for our Camcorder
A Tripod for balancing so our music video does not look in anyway shaky.
We will also need a camera case to avoid any damages to the camera as it will be the schools one so just for safety reasons.
External microphone so if it is a windy day you do not hear it however we will be lip syncing so that will not be needed
and extra storage memory to avoid our work deleting.

Target Audience

My Genre my group will be focusing on will Pop and this will will be targeted to teenagers between the ages of 14-18 as statistics on YouTube say up to 68% of people that watch pop videos range from 14-18 which is why that is why i want to base our target.
The Gender will be mostly females but also males, education wise they will still be in school and some of the target audience will be at University, Their income will be good enough but still relies on their parents to give them money, any nationality will be good but the vast majority will be British. Our pop music audience will mostly listen to artists such as Justin Bieber and Nicki Minaj and Olly Murs, as you can see Pop music comes into one regardless what country it is from

Andrew Goodwin Theory

Goodwin theory states that there are 5 key aspects to a music video
. Through through (seeing what the lyrics mean in your head)
. The relationship between the song and of the visuals
. Narrative and performance of the song
. Technical aspect of a music video
. Star image(Protagonist), lots of camera shots making him or her the centre of attention

Star Image
Start image is something that has always been important not only in music videos but also films TV shows, etc. However in terms of music videos it is extremely vital, an audience desires someone they can look up to and aspire to be like and the star image for many people fulfils this role for example Eamon Holmes. Meta narratives has an important part to play in all music video productions processes.

Narrative and Performance
Songs alone in Goodwins theory fail to us the complete narrative. Although we get the general gist of what is happening it limits our capability top understand. Goodwin explains in his theory that music videos should ignore common narratives, music videos should ignore common narratives, music videos should avoid complete repeat ability.
Narrative and Performance work coherently allowing the audience to watch the same video over and over and still find interest while watching it so the audience do not get bored. The artist who is acting as both the narrator and the participant helps raise the levels of authenticity, however the lip sync and other mimed actions remain at the heart of music videos. The audience have an urge and desire to believe that this is real

Technical Aspects Of The Music Video
Technical aspects of a music video are extremely important and help the music video together through by using different camera techniques such as, movement different angles, mis-en-scene, editing, sound, editing etc.
Lighting and colour help the mood continue to set and stay constant without the music video. In order for a music video to intrigue and audience it needs to look authentic and professional all of the camera work helps this happen usually oblivious to the audience.

Relation Of Visuals To Song
In terms of music videos there are usually three ways they are portrayed. Music video creators could use a set of images to insinuate a specific meaning of lyrics and genre. This is one of the most common ways music videos are created, music videos like this are also referred to as repeatablility. The meanings and effects of music videos are constanly being manipulated and shown through the video which is usually drummed into our vision, Music videos like this are usually where the meaning of the song is completely ignored

Tuesday 13 September 2016

Section Boyz Lock Arff

Setting- The setting is in south London as you can see in the video the camera goes past Croydon station so people can know where they are based and south east london is known to be a very dangerous and these people are proud to be from there so they are proud to show people where they are from so people will not come to their area because if they do they will be trouble as one of the lyrics in the video say "everyting lock arf" meaning something so bad will happen the police will be there in seconds.

Sound- The sound used in the Section Boys Video shoot was just a big bass melody to let the audience feel the full effect of the music so when they hear gunshots in the video it is to make the audience jump and feel terrified which is why its called trap music hence why they are using their hands to use gun signs to threaten their gang rivals

Costume- In the video mostly everyone is wearing black simply because that is why they are classified as a gang as most of them are covering their faces as they are criminals, when they are wearing black and the video was filmed in the night they mostly blend in so you cannot real tell who is who as some of the youths there are banned from being on music videos that involves gang violence.

Lighting- The lighting used in this scene was quite low and this was used because they could blend in with the night time and also bad things are known to happen in the night time so if they are talking about something getting locked off they mean something will happen, most off the costume the section boys are wearing are black so they are implying they are dangerous just like the night time. The picture was taking in the night time and he is dressed in all black and the lighting is very low key to highlight the darkness in what they are wearing
However in this picture the same person above is dressed in normal everyday clothes and the lighting used in this snapshot is high key to highlight the drink in he`s hand and what he is wearing even though he is wearing is black it has hints off white signs in it and if someone is wearing black in the daytime no one will really be scared so you can see how the lighting affects the scenes

Representations- This track just shows how black youths are viewed as in society as dangerous and they are filling the stereotype of being dangerous and a threat to society, as in the lyrics they were saying a lot of gang related things matching what society say about them, while the girls in the video were shaking their bums filling out the representation that girls were "skets"

Camera angles- Camera angles such as over the top shots were made to get everybody who was involved in the video shoot also the over the top shot was used to make the location look like a good community as kids were playing while other girls were walking around calmly in the background, also close up shots were used and the camera zoomed in and out of some of the rappers that were there.

Michael Jackson Thriller Analysis

Setting/Location. I can see from the music video that it was set in the 90s due to the fact of what they both wore to the cinema and it the location was in a funeral this was used to make the audience feel the full impact and the fear that the girl was going through at that moment of seeing Michael Jackson change into a zombie. The country was in America as you can tell by their accents at the start of the video.

Camera angles- The camera angles used in the shooting of Thriller music video was shots such as close up shots and birds eye view so you can use the dancing of the zombies behind Michael, Medium shot was also used in the first scene and the dancing scenes

Sound- The sound used in the Thriller video was very good and involved the audience because in the opening scene when they are watching the film in the cinema you can hear when Michael Jackson is eating the popcorn loudly and you can hear the movie playing in the background also when the dancers were dancing you could hear when they slapped their hands on their thighs this also has a big impact on the audience.

Lighting- Low key lighting was used in the first and the rest of the scene in fact to show the shadow when the girl was running away from Michael Jackson not once in the video was high key lighting was used in the music video to show what kind of video it would be (Thriller)

Representation - The stereotypes used in this was directed mainly at the girl and how girls need men in their lives to feel protected as when the Change from Human to Zombie Happened she was very scared and needed the man to feel protected and she matched the stereotype they were trying to convey

Costume Michael Jackson was wearing a red jacket and red trousers and hes famous black shoes and white socks to keep hes tradition however the costume he was wearing was significant as when he wore red it could show danger and also he could also make him stand out from all the other characters in the scene even in the dark

editing - The scenes were quite slow paced until Michael Jackson changed into a werewolf and then everything just went fast paced even when they were walking and when they were dancing also when the scene change was very quick nothing to fancy to kill or spoil the mood just a basic scene change

Representation (Stormzy)

This is one of Stormzy`s first ever videos, I have decided to look at him as an artist and how he has been represented as a British Grime artist.

Background -

Michael Omari is better known by his stage name Stormzy, is an English grime and hip-hop artist. He won Best Grime Act at the 2014 and 2015 MOBO Awards and was named as an artist to look out for in the BBC's influential Sound of 2015 list. His most successful song to date is the BPI gold-selling "Shut Up", initially released as a freestyle to YouTube and later reaching number eight on the UK Singles Chart after a campaign for it to reach Christmas number one.

After garnering attention on the UK underground music scene via his Wicked Skengman series of freestyles over classic grime beats, Stormzy released his debut EP Dreamers Disease independently in July 2014. This is important as he is an independent artist and was not mainstream at this time which is different to his current musical status.

On 22 October, Stormzy won Best Grime Act at the MOBO awards. Later that month he became the first unsigned rapper to appear on Later with Jools Holland performing the song "Not That Deep" from Dreamers Disease. By promoting himself on this platform he was able to target a larger audience.

In November 2014, Stormzy collaborated with rapper Chip and Shalo on the track "I'm Fine", also appearing in a video for the song. The track is part of Chip's upcoming Believe & Achieveproject.
On 7 January 2015, Stormzy came number 3 in the BBC Introducing top 5 on Radio 1.

In March 2015 he released the single "Know Me From", which entered the UK Singles Chart at number 49. In September 2015, he released a final instalment to his "WickedSkengMan" freestyle series, "WickedSkengMan 4", onto iTunes, along with a studio version of his "Shut Up" freestyle over XTC's Functions On The Low instrumental.

The track debuted at number 18 on the UK chart dated 24 September, becoming Stormzy's first top 40 hit and the first ever freestyle to reach the top 40 in the United Kingdom highlighting his popularity and audience appeal!

On 12 December 2015, Stormzy performed "Shut Up" during British heavyweight boxer Anthony Joshua's ring-walk for his fight versus Dillian Whyte. Originally, "Shut Up", released as part of the "WickedSkengMan 4" single EP in September 2015, charted at number 59. Since the performance, it began climbing up the iTunes chart and into the top 40.

As a result, Stormzy launched a Christmas number 1 campaign to get the song to number 1.It generated a large amount of support which made it enter the top 10 of the UK Singles Chart on 18 December 2015 at number 8, a week prior to the Christmas number 1 week, succeeding the chart position of "WickedSkengMan 4". It has become Stormzy's highest-charting single.

In Apr 25, 2016 Stormzy dropped "Scary" freestyle which is also the first track of his new album. He has announced on his backstage interview with Tim Westwood that the new album will come out in around summer.

What Does Music Mean To Me?

Music Means a lot to me as a child i was brought up listening to Gospel songs with Mum and Brother, so Music does mean a lot to me, whichever genre i listen to as long as its got a nice beat and a catchy chorus i will listen to it, i even listen to music whenever i do my school work, even listening to it now in fact. Music is so important to me that without it i will not do my homework without listening to it, i would rather spend 3 hours listening to music and doing my homework than do thirty minutes of work without headphones and music. Overall music does mean a lot to me

Genre In Music

A music genre is a conventional category that identifies some piece of music that belongs to a shared tradition or set of conventions. It is to be distinguished from musical form and musical style, although in practice these terms are sometimes used interchangeably.
There are different types of genre but i will only talk about the 4 that i really like.
- Grime
- Jazz
- Drill
- Gospel

Grime- Grime genre originally comes from the streets from East London and gone around to the whole of England as a popular way of music it has turned into a culture however the police are trying to cut down the culture of grime music because of the violence that comes from it, there have been a number of deaths that have come from Music videos of Grime music making it a moral panic for society.

Jazz- Jazz is a type of of music black African american origin which emerged at the beginning of the 20th century characterised by improvisation, syncopation and usually a regular forceful rhythm. Drill- Drill music is originally from the streets of Chicago which the people there call "Chiraq" because the death rate there is more than the death rate in Iraq which is nothing to be proud off but they see it as a big achievement so they turn their words into violent rap talking about the people they have killed and the so called "snitches" in other areas of Chicago however the States is having the same problem as the UK are the violence are increasing in a vast manner, more deaths and homicides have increased since Drill music stared in Chicago
